The ground covering of the reserve changes with the seasons. In the spring, visitors will discover cyclamen followed by the blooming of other flowers. Summer is characterized by the fresh smell of wild oregano and thyme, and the beauty of the reserve’s orchids.

The pine forest of Bentael Nature Reserve is home to a diversity of plants, animals and insects.

The pine is one of the most common trees in the reserve. Pine forests and trees are important because they contribute to the formation, structure and fertility of the soil. The pine forest in Bentael Nature Reserve is characterized by the density of the forest.

Interspersed among the reserve’s pine trees are a variety of oak trees. The oak tree has historically been a symbol of strength because of its very strong wood. Many people recognize oak trees because of their broad leaves and acorns.



Bentael Nature Reserve has organized in conjunction with Kafr Club the annual race that takes place for the second time on the Independence Day. This 6.5km-race starts from the park house of the reserve in Bentael and finishes in Kafr club. Participants of all ages ran from Bentael to Kafr on November 22, 2011
